IMPORTANT! If following the CPHC Circuit you must be a member to qualify for year end awards however if just showing at the KDCTA show, it is NOT necessary to be a CPHC member.

KDCTA Spring / Fall Show

KDCTA Spring Dressage Show @ Harmony Horsemanship Center on May 21, 2017

- Ange Bean, "L" judge will be judging.
- Grounds fee is $20 per horse/rider combination (Junior fee=$15 per horse/rider)
- Class fee is $25/class (Junior fee=$20)
- ALL classes must be registered!
- Limited number of rides to be scheduled so only the first 40 registered will be accepted (unless entries warrant a second judge).
- (Please note, the KDCTA Spring Show will offer Dressage classes ONLY.)

NEW this year ***Western Dressage Classes***

Register on-line AND Registration form with Coggins and payment must be postmarked to Stephanie Dobiss, Show Secretary, by May 12, 2017   ***Late fee of $20 will be enforced for any entries postmarked after the deadline of May 12. ***

Also different this year is a change in how riders are placed in Dressage classes. This change will expedite test results and ribbon assignments. We will be using the Danish System for the Schooling Shows. This system is being implemented in various areas of the country. Tests will be pinned as follows:
BLUE = 67% or higher
RED = 62% - 66.999%
YELLOW = 57% - 61.999%
WHITE = 52% - 56.999%
PINK = 47% - 51.999%
GREEN = 42% - 46.999%
Harmony Horsemanship Center is owned by Christine Wertz. This show will utilize the small arena format for all rides. Information about Harmony Horsemanship Center can be found on their website:

Grange Fairground is located at 169 Homan Lane, Centre Hall, 16828 PA
GRANGE FAIRGROUNDS DIRECTIONS:  From Route 322, take RT 45 East to Centre Hall. From Rt. 144, take RT 45 West to
 Boalsburg/State College. Use Homan Lane entrance (right beside Farm Credit Bureau) to reach the horse rings.
  • If riding in both rings, MUST PRE-RESISTER
  • To receive TEST RIDE TIMES include e-mail address on entry
  • TEST RIDE TIMES to be posted on the website by Thursday prior to the show

KDCTA Scholarship Award

  • Two Appreciation Awards given each year.
  • Scholarships are for use in paying for participation in a show or clinic (for example, registration and travel expenses).
  • Scholarships must be used within a year of receipt.
  • Within three months after scholarship use, the recipient must present a brief program on his or her experiences during a regular monthly KDCTA meeting.

Eligibility Rules:

1. Applicant must be a KDCTA member in good standing (KDCTA officers are not eligible for this award).

2. Applicant must have been a volunteer for pre-show set up or post-show take down for at least one KDCTA show in the current year.

3. Applicant must work a minimum of 3 hours during a KDCTA show.

To apply for the Volunteer Appreciation Award, complete the application form and submit to Emily Furumoto, KDCTA President. Recipients will be chosen by a committee of KDCTA officers.

Please consider volunteering your skills and time to help during the KDCTA shows.

Volunteers are the key to a great show. We always welcome any help for show set up (Friday evening prior to the Saturday Spring show and Saturday evening prior to the Sunday Fall show) AND tear down directly after the last ride. Show day jobs include (but not limited to):

  1. Runners for dressage tests
  2. Scribes
  3. Gate helpers (Dressage and Hunter rings)
  4. Scoring and ribbons for Dressage ring
  5. Runner(s) for announcer's booth to update Hunter entries
  6. Announcers
  7. Stall check-in help

Below are rules for earning a free stall as a volunteer:

  • Anyone volunteering on the show day and working for a full shift will receive a $5 voucher for the food stand.
  • The volunteer will reserve and pay for a stall per usual. The stall check must be a separate check from the other entry costs. The volunteer must notify the show secretary of his/her intent to earn the free stall on their entry form.
  • The volunteer must work either during set up or during clean up and serve a shift during the show.
  • Sign-in sheet will be at the registration area and will serve as documentation of work completed.
  • Upon verification for completing the work, the show secretary will destroy the original stall fee check.
  • Only one free stall allowed per family.
  • The Penn State Dressage Team is receiving a donation for their time, therefore team members are not eligible for free stalls.
